Fall Classic Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51M spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this represents the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English program in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12M. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase over last year and Fox’s best playoff ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 various tongues.
